Sony FW290JRB seems to have XBrite HiColor at 1600x900. But that one comes with T8400 CPU, I want T9600. The only way that I am going to get T9600 is by ordering FW290 Configure To Order model, but that one does not offer HiColor at 1600x900. And it doesn't look like that they are going to change CTO model until the next refresh.

So, my question is: does Sony have a history of offering the highest CPU clock speed in the market with one of their pre-configured model? By looking at previous pre-configured FW models, the highest clock speed they offer was T9400 and not the T9600.

Edit: FW290JRB does not offer XBrite HiColor at 1600x900. Sony finally fixed the typo. The FW290JRB comes with XBrite Full-HD at 1920x1080 which immediately drops it off my list.

    what are you talking about?
I just did a CTO on sonystyle.com for the FW290
and you can have both the T9600 and the XBrite-FullHD (should be the same as HiColor but with higher resolution)

I don't want higher resolution. I want 1600x900 HiColor which is not available with the CTO model.

I thought the reason they dont offer the T9600 (or the T9400) is because they are 35W CPU compared to 25W, and because of that they have a slightly different cooling system.

It makes sense that it would be cheaper for Sony to only produce these on request, since only a few people would want to sacrifice battery life for such a small increase in speed.

I would like to know why they dont offer the P9400 in the FW series though.

Yes but the mobo supports both. Various preconfigured models of FW have T9400, P8600, P8400, T5800 but only the CTO offers T9600. The only reason I can think of is the price. T9600 is the most expensive and they don't want to put the most expensive one for the preconfigured model because they are afraid it won't sell. If it won't sell, they can't just transfer it to another model. With the CTO, the T9600 that won't sell can be easily transfered to any other model since it is just one piece of CPU.

Anyway, it's moot point now since Sony will not sell FW200 series with HiColor at 1600x900.

Is the Hi-Color "Full HD" screen LED backlit or ccfl?
