    Hi,

I purchased a TT-34G/D couple of months ago. I use an Option Globetrotter 3G express card for mobile internet where wifi is unavailable.

However, the card fits very loosely inside the slot, and comes out upon a slightest pull. Even when my hand accidentally touchs the external antenna portion of the card, the hardware removal sound is heard.

Does anyone has encountered a similar problem? Is there a workaround, should I dissassemble the slot?

My spec sheet on my sony VGN-BZ said it would take and express card. I purchased a Verizon express card and did not like the looks of it. I ordered an adapter for it that uses the whole width of the slot. The express card is 34mm and the slot will also take a 54mm card. I did not even try to put the narrow card in that wide of a slot. If you have the same problem just tell your carrier you need to purchase an adaptor. The 34mm express card slides into the 54mm adapter and there is no play.

I wish that was the problem. The slot and the card are both 34mm. The problem is not sideways, it is on the direction where you plug the card in.

I own a TT36G/D but i have internal wwan in mine so have no need for an expresscard for wwan. I did though try another expresscard in that slot and i can see what you mean. It is very easy to remove the card just by a little pull on it. I can depress it to remove it also.

It is supposed to be in such a way that depressing it should be the only way to remove it, but unfortunately I am the one getting depressed when my expresscard moves and disconnects :)

Thanks for the info, at least, not specific to my unit then.

I thought about buying a wwan card internally for my TT but in Turkey you have to use an imported GSM/UMTS device for it to work on any network, to have your IMEI on the whitelist, therefore buying one from ebay and upgrading my TT is not an option.

The few times I used the card with adapter it fit tight. There is a spring loaded pop out that is used to push it out on my sony. I no longer need it in my laptop because my boss/brother gave me a win mobile phone with unlimited for work. I picked up a EVDO router for the usb modem and wonder why I never did that before. The difference in signal strength is incredible. The VZ access software always had a conflict with my laptop but not know.

I would have tried to 'pad' the card with a piece of duct tape or perhaps aluminum foil tape (for better heat transfer) on the top or underside to make it slightly thicker and see if that helped first.

Hm.. that seems a logical physical mod to have it in place, but rather than brute forcing the item to hold there, I think I might go ahead and investigate the port itself.

It seems that no TT owner has such problem?

3/4 Express was designed by retarded geeks, it is same problem on any pc or Mac. My solution-used on various notebooks since a year without much problem- Swiss Army knife toothpick to secure the card. The best come with so called Swiss card, are shorter than ones for the knives. The best get couple of them ,sold as replacement cost 50 cents to 1$ each in camping goods stores.
Without securing them in some way, like with the toothpick, express cards are practically unusable ( slightest move may cause BSOD or in case of UMTS notorious disconnection)

Thank you, that seems quite a practical way to do so. I will give it a try.
