Hey people
I just sent Racheal a PM and was wondering if anyone else would be able to help on this>?

I see that now Sony has provided 64bit drivers for the TT4 model in the EU. You could use the drivers and wwan connection drivers.
I upgraded to a Gobi card and it has been a while since i did this upgrade.
If you turn your notebook over you should be able to see an IMEI number.
You can use that and input your IMEI number to download the latest drivers from the Option website.
Software download | Option
Of course uninstall all the Option software that you've already installed before you install this. -
Thanks for your responce, I did this and I had no luck?
I also went in to device manager, went to modems, properties, diagnostics and tested.. it was sucessful. Drivers are cool, but just the software keeps saying hardware not found but windows is picking up t-mobile uk. so if I try connecting via windows, it just times out? -
Also would you use 32 bit or 64 bit? I had 64 bit installed and had no problems apart from wwan and now installed 32 bit. I thaught maybe with could be because of that. obviously not.
-
Well i use 64bit as i have more than 3GB installed. I have 8GB installed so it makes no sense for me to use a 32bit OS.
Do you have another connection software installed apart from Globetrotter? If so I would delete this. Also delete the Option software and put the wwan on with the smart network.
Try alternating the way you install the drivers.
Connection manager
Drivers etc
Try again using the drivers for your model if you're having problems with downloading/installing the software from the Option website and if you're also having problems with the TT4 drivers. -
Gosh R, 8 GB? I only have 4gb. I thaught that was the max?
I have no other connection software. I will give it one last go then I will give up lol.
Maybe I could restore laptop to factory default and then upgrade to windows 7? do you know any drawbacks to this? -
Yes Ashan. These TT's can be upgraded to 8GB of 8500 1066mhz ram.
I really don't know why you have a problem.
It was very straight forward for me.
Install the smart network
Turn the smart network on
Install the connection drivers
Install the wwan drivers and then that was it.
After you removed your Globetrotter and wwan drivers did you turn the smart network of and on again? Did you also try and restart your computer?
Before you do though go your computer and also delete the Option folder in your programs.
Really you can just download your software from the Option website. It might be the same as the drivers listed for the TT4. I deleted the 32bit drivers in the package from the Option website as i had no use for them. -
Hey R
With regaurds to RAM, are you definatly sure I can upgrade because on Vaio site Vaio : Sony Europe : Specifications it says 4gb Max?
Guess what? I don't know what I did, but after a fresh install of 64bit windows 7, i played about with drivers and it is now working and connecting to T-mobile UK.
BUT....
I can not get any websites to load, although GT connect is connected - Windows think near the clock says unidentified network, no network access? -
There have been members that own a TT1 that have upgraded to 8GB. Run a search on nectop in this forum.
You may need to upgrade your BIOS to a more recent one but that should be it and you should be fine.
Good to hear that you're getting somewhere with the WWAN. -
hi,is there any one had same issue with the 3g modem, after installing w7 64 bit i spend lots of time to get it work, and no it does work but only if i plug charger in and if i remove it still works fine but if i will restart laptop without charger it doesn't work, when i open globetrotter connection software it does saying the device not found, then i check system device and there are no drivers for modem at all..!but if i plug charger it will appear in device manager (modem) GlobeTrotter MO40x.can any one please tel me whats the story with this software i have downloaded the latest software and drivers from option site...

I posted this in another thread-
I got a EU Sony TT GTM382W card and i swapped it with a Sony Gobi 1000 card that was used in the US TT models and some VGN Z models. I have to say i do prefer the Gobi card and have swapped back. The Gobi software is actually lighter, power run time was nearly the same. I was also losing the EVDO networks so i changed back.
I know some people were having issues getting the Option card to work with the connection tool but after several attempts i figured it out. This was with W7 64bit. This will also work over W7 32bit also. If you've not downloaded any Option software previously then just go to Option website and see part 7 below.
To get the Option card working with the connection software in W7 .
1.First, the Sony software for W7 64bit OS for the TT4 model does not include the Option connection software. To use the Sony software you'll need to connect via W7's in built network centre.
2.If you prefer to use the Option connection software then remove any Option software from your c program files. You'll need to make sure it is not open anywhere first in order to delete it so you may need to switch it of via smart network and use ctrl alt del to stop any Option services from running. Also, uninstall the drivers under modem, network and under ports and check delete the software in the device manager. It's also worth it to empty your temp files.
3.Delete any drivers you may have downloaded for it also.
4.Then uninstall it and restart to make sure that you see driver install faliure when you reboot instead of W7 auto installing the drivers.
5.Use your IMEI number at the base of your laptop and go to the Option website.
6.Only download the connection software, the first option. If you download any of the drivers it will create a conflict.
7.Only intstall this open it and go to the folder you want be it 32bit or 64bit and then restart and that's it-
GlobeTrotter® Connect 3.1 for Modules 3.1d0-1107_P Hokku 3.1 for Option standard modules
Multilanguage
..
I kept on installing the drivers as i never read the description fully so it created a conflict. It took me a while to figure it out. Those Sony drivers on top of the connection software will also cause that same conflict. -
i tried everything like you said and i cant get it to work any way,it is working but if i will start laptop with charger plugged in,connection software says that device not found,if i remove charger from the socket it starts no problem, and same if i start laptop without charger it wont work until i plug charger in,and then i can remove charger and every thing is ok until i restart laptop,i have installed only globetrotter software 3.1....... and no other drivers, maybe it is a fault not driver problem,i even tried clean install and then installed just software it is same....don't know what to do,any ideas, thanks
-
That is the only driver you need to use the built in Option connection software and have the drivers installed and it should work by opening the folder and selecting the version that you need be it 32/64bit and then installing it.
That is ok but how about the other drivers you installed for your clean install?
I used the TT4 64bit W7 drivers.
VAIO : Sony Europe
It could be a hardware problem. It's not that hard to open the TT if you wanted to check that everything is ok.

You need to install the Sony utilities as well, like Smart Network, because the laptop can disable the WWAN card.
-

-
Try this update, the problem that you're having turning it on and of is a known problem.
