Hi , I have had a disaster with my Vaio TX5N/B, the hard disc has given up with no warning, any way not to worry I thought I will take this opportunity of upgrading the HD unit from the Tohiba 100gb 1.8" ATA7 MK1011GAH, HDD1789 to a Toshiba 120gb 1.8" ATA7 MK1214GAH, HDD1902 unit, both have the ZIF-40 interface and run at the same speed. I have installed the unit but the BIOS is not recognising the unit, it finds the DVD/CD unit ok, I have the latest BIOS update installed
Has anyone come across this issue before or has any ideas on what I can try to get the BIOS to recognise the Unit
Thanks

Have you tried booting up without putting your laptop fully back together again? This happened to me when i was trying to upgrade my TX5. I put everything back together and then tried to boot but the drive was not recognised. I then tried again with the laptop pretty much open without the HD protector around it and i saw that it was recognised. The zif cable was not secure and something was happening to it as i reassembled my laptop.
These cables are also pretty delicate and it is not hard to damage them after continued attempts of trying to get your BIOS to pick up your drive. -
Thanks for the tip, I now have a fully operating TX5 again, Thanks
