I have had my TX670 for a week now and thoroughly enjoy it. When I purchased it at the SF Sony Style store, they did not have the port replicator in stock, so I ordered two, one for the office and one for home. They arrived today and I couldn't wait to clear the cable clutter of my monitor, usb disk drive, network cable, power adapter, and another usb device.

I dutifully plugged them all in and found that everything seemed to work fine. However in a minute or two I noticed that my ethernet connection was showing disconnected. It seems that when the ethernet cable is connected to the port replicator every minute or two, it will show connected, then a minute or two later, disconnected. This goes on forever, with the internet connection going up and down with no warning.

When I disconnected the TX670 from the port replicator and plugged the ethernet cable into the notebook directly, there were no problems with connectivity. Initially, I thought I might have a flaky port replicator, so I opened the second one up and it has the exact same problems.

Then I decided to call Sony tech support. The want me to send the laptop in for service, since they seem to think it must be the port replicator connector on the bottom of the notebook. Frankly, I find that hard to believe and think it may be some driver update necessary to switch the active ethernet port from the built in laptop connector to the port replcator connector.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions on this topic. I don't want to ship my brand spanking new laptop (loaded with data) off to Sony to play with.

And by the way, for anyone thinking of buying the port replicator, it is not like the unit I had for an S series unit. There is no postive docking connection, meaning the laptop jsut seems to sit on the connector with no buttons or levers to unattach it. If you attempt to lift the lid of the notebook up too fast or hard, you can accidentally un-dock it.....not a very good unit for $200, in my opinion.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I don't know about their port replicator, but I can't imagine it's your machine. Is there an updated driver for their port replicator by chance?

I have been unable to find any driver or software for the port replicator. When I inquired about that sith Sony tech support, they said they were not aware of it either.

Does anyone have the TX670 with a port replicator?

Does it work properly with your internet connection (ethernet cable)?

Did you have to install any updated drivers to get the port replicator to work?

    Thanks

Huh, the universal ones I've used have drivers, the Sony one with Sony notebook must not need it.

I have the exact same problem. Did you find a solution?
