I have a "friend" who was screwing with his new TZ190 and wiped the restore partition before he created a backup CD with the Sony apps. The main thing this "friend" wants is the biometric software which Sony does not place on their website. Anyone want to loan this said friend a restore CD or have one online? Friend is upset that even though it was his own fault, Sony charges $25 for a freaking CD.

I just went through a similar episode -- should have made the recovery DVDs when I had the chance -- tell you friend to buy the recovery dvds -- well worth the cost and next time he'll be protected.

I wiped my partition before I made any backups and downloaded all drivers and software from the Sony website including the biometric driver and software (uptek).

voip, that's just the driver I think and not the actual app. I'll look at it some more though and see.

Yes, just tried, that is only the driver and not the app, unless I'm missing something.

Man, 161MB file incomming, that should do the trick, thanks. I wonder why the Sony support people can't just tell you about this link. Suppose they'd rather sell the $25 disk, LOL.

To confirm, downloaded the file, installed the security suite, rebooted, and now we're good. Well done guys.

Hi, I know this post was from a few months ago, but I have a related question. I am did a clean install on my tz to get rid of all the unnecessary extras. Thanks for the biometrics software, I was looking for it too. However, I can't seem to get my eject button to work. I thought it was part of the AV mode untility but it doesn't fix it. Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

You've probably already checked this but could it be you have the drive's power off? There should be an icon for the drive in the system tray area, from which you can turn it back on (right click). Otherwise, try ejecting/managing the drive from Windows Explorer or My Computer. If you right click on the drive there, you should have an eject option.
