I'm having some minor battery problem with my TZ.
I charge my TZ 100% and unplug and re-boot, then I only get 96%. It never goes over 96% when unplugged. I have the medium size battery. Does anyone have the same problem?

Since I never really fiddled around with the battery on my former TZ, I can't tell you exactly what the problem is.

But my suggestion is that you check if there is a setting adjusting the battery threshholds. Maybe it is set to automatic at the moment? Also try resetting the battery gauge to ensure your battery is in good condition. I am just troubleshooting here.

Btw, are you happy about your TZ now that you finally received it?

I swapped it. Didn't you read the Conics vs. PriceJapan thread?

Did you try out my suggestions regarding the battery?

I just un checked the alarm when low battery.
Let me drain this battery and recharge it..see if that helps.
I haven't been to Conics Vs. PriceJapan thread for awhile. =)

By the sounds of it, it's something to do with your battery care. I don't have mine yet, so I can't go into how to disable it. There was a thread on it here somewhere

Basically, you're notebook will not charge or discharge your battery to 100% in order to maintain a good life.

Yes, that is correct. But it should not show that it has been charged to 100% either when that function is activated.

On my ThinkPad X61, I have activated the "optimize for battery lifespan" function and it will show i.e. 97% for hours, not 100%, unless I force it to fully charge.

I think what zukbang is saying is that his laptop is fully charged to 100% but when unplugged it only shows 96%. Maybe it is a bug in the battery management software.

All batteries drop pretty fast initially. Mine goes to 96% while in my bag! :)

I would say that depends on several factors, age, quality, wear of the battery plus weather conditions, etc.

When my battery is charged to 100% on my ThinkPad X61, I shut down the computer, unplug it, restart it and when it is booted into Vista it shows 98-99% if it is on max performance settings. If I fully charge it and leave it in my bag for a whole day it will pretty much show 98%-99% by the time it is booted into Vista as well. So the battery is quite stable.

Zukbang, try setting your performance to maximum battery before rebooting and see what happens.

And then there is also the inaccuracy in measuring the capacity.

I would suggest don't attach too much value to these numers 96% or 98%.

Indeed. I have noticed yesterday that my bulk battery charges to 96% (value of Vista battery level indicator). At 96% the "Battery recharging LED" on the notebook stopped blinking.

After quite some time the value of the Vista battery level indicator increased suddenly from 96% to 100%

I think the hardware (battery) has reached 100% and stopped charging while the Vista battery level indicator still displayed 96% for a very long time.

this morning, I unplugged power and booted. I got 99%. so I guess my problem is solved.
