I am looking at buying a TZ with ether the u7600 or u7700.
The u7700 also has 20GB of Harddrive.
What I need to know is the u7700 worth the extra 200 bucks.
I am looking at PortableOne.com.............Is this a good place to buy?
Is there a better place to buy a sony TZ
Thanks

If its $200 to go from U7600 to U7700 alone, absolutely not. When it comes with 20gb extra HDD space (100 to 120gb), its better but I still think its not worth it. Would you need that extra space?
The processor difference in speed between the two will be minimal though, thats the main thing you are considering of course. You won't see much (if any) difference.
The best ways to speed up the TZ is to get 2gb of ram instead of 1gb and to get a solid state drive (though thats very expensive and capacities are limited). Maybe you could upgrade to that later on. But a slightly faster processor isn't going to give you much more speed.
Yes, PortableOne is a very very good place to buy your TZ. -
Agree with Rahul. Get the U7600 and put the extra money (after getting at least 2GB RAM) into the "new laptop fund"

Also, you can purchase the model with the lower processor and overclock it to match the processing speed of the higher model. It's extremely easy to do. Personally, I am not computer-savvy at all, and I am able to overclock my TZ easily.
I'd rather use that extra $200 to buy a really nice case or accessories for the TZ. -

I'm another who would stop at the U7600. Intel almost always have a big mark-up on their fastest CPU in any range. You would need a stop watch in order to notice the extra 10% speed of the U7700. In addition the CPU will only be the bottleneck in certain functions. For example, the HDD will be a significant bottleneck for file operations. When the 160GB 1.8" HDDs become easily available they should offer a useful boost to performance.
