Unfortunately, the search function on this forum has been disabled for those of us having under 100 posts so I cannot search these forums. Although I am certainly not a newbie here, I don't have anywhere near 100 posts.

Anyway, for some reason, my TZ195 does not always connect automatically with my wireless pre N. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Most of the time out of standby and hibernation, it will connect. However, it mostly doesn't out of restart. When this happens, I either have to turn on/off the wireless switch (which only sometimes works) or retype in the SSID and encrp. key.

I have already restored this computer a couple of times and installed all updates, the latest just the other day after I received the Portable One disk, so I don't think that is the issue.

I have another TZ170 and a TX750 that does not have this issue, so I'm puzzled  My old TR had this problem sometimes, but I had installed an aftermarket A/B/G card, so I always considered that the issue. That said, I wonder if it is the wireless card at is the issue?

    Thanks

Can you verify that this happens with other wireless routers? I ended up with both a Belkin and Netgear wireless router (since I bring one with me when I visit family who have DSL but not wireless). At home, my TZ130 had no problem with the Netgear, but my wife's T340P kept dropping out. When I switched back to the Belkin both laptops connected reliably.

Unless you have this problem with more than one wireless router, you might want to try borrowing a second one (different brand) to see if that makes a difference.

    Good luck.

    Hey John,

Thanks for the reply. I think I solved it, at least for now.

You know how quirky these things are. I have an old Belkin (+3 years or so, I think) Pre-N that I am using only as an access point. Anyway, I had it set to not broadcast the SSID, so I switched it to where the SSID is broadcast now. I also changed one setting in the device manager for the Intel wireless card ( think it was so that it won't roam around for the strongest connection, or something like that (even though mine is the strongest connection received by far)). Anyway, I restarted 5-6 times, and hooked up automatically everytime thus far.

I did find a newer driver for this card on the Intel website that is not on the Sony Support site. I was going to install this if my problems continued.

    Hopefully, I won't have to.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I had a similar problem with my G11. Something fixed it. I think it was Vista SP1 but it might have been a newer Intel driver.
