Is this a good price for a TZ130NB - this one does not have the camera - I was going to get a TZ210 but found out it is pink! Here is the price -

    Item #07279292
    Manufacturer Part No. VGNTZ130N/B
    TZ130N/B U7500 1.06/1GB/100/11.1/WLS/VB
    Quantity: 1
    Price: $1,189.00
    Extended Price: $1,189.00

Now to search the fourms to find a guide to do a clean install of Vista Ultimate w/SP1.

I down to deciding between the TZ130NB and the Dell D430 with 64GB SSD for around $1500, I am going to load Vista on the Dell tonight and see how much of a speed difference there is. The only other downside to the TZ is lack of built in HSDPA (ie not sprint), I guess I can use a express card when needed for that.

The Dell D430 with built in wireless would be around $1700, I can get the express card for free so I all I need to add to the Sony is the slim AC adapter and more RAM.

    Thoughts?

No, its the exact same as the TZ150 model hardware wise, but missing the motion eye webcam and WWAN. Its probably the only TZ model without the webcam, its rare! :)

Rahulnirmal - don't you have a TZ130? If so how do you like it - do you miss the camera? Have you done any mods?

Finally - I cannot find the guide to do a clean install of Vista on the machine -would you know where to point me in the right direction. Thanks

Yeah it's rare, but it's not the only one. The TZ160 (Also a USA model) also doesn't come with a webcam.

I had a TZ160 but returned it and got the 150 as soon as I realized it didn't come with a webcam. Kinda sneaky of Sony to do that if you ask me, but I should have read the specs more closely. (Too bad it doesn't blatantly say "NO WEBCAM" anywhere, or else I would have caught it.) I assumed the TZ160 was simply the 150 + 2GB ram installed, but no. That's the 170.

On the subject of the webcam itself: I will say this though, I rarely use the webcam for communicating with anyone. But I do like having it there for assurance I do need it down the road, or in case I need to record something with the built in microphone. If it's a matter of money, that's something you'll have to decide. For me, I got the TZ150 +2GB memory stick for less than what I spent on the 160, but hindsight 20/20 I still wouldn't spend the less money to get the TZ130, which is definitely cheaper than both. Comes down to what you want in a computer I suppose and what your budget is. No one here can decide for you.

And to do a Vista clean install you'll need to look at multiple guides as there is no dedicated one just for the TZ. Get a WAU DVD, then look at the HP section's sticky about Vista clean install using the ABR utility. Make backup VAIO DVDs before you do anything, and test they work first. You can also remove the hidden partition this way.

OK - thanks. What is a WAU DVD? If that is an real/authorized copy - yes mine is.

    Windows Anytime Upgrade Disc.

I have no idea what this sentence means and what "mine" is referring to.

OK - sorry for the confusion - I understand what you are saying - just ignore my comments. On another note - I just got my D430 and the TZ130 arrives tomorrow so that I can compare the two. The Dell has a 64GB SSD and it is very fast! More to come tomorrow.

Yea man depends if the site ships to europe...
It would cost you something like 15-20% VAT, nothing too expensive!
And that is IF the customs get you...

Don't bother -- MacMall doesn't actually have any in stock and had 63 backorders as of yesterday afternoon. They aren't expecting to get any more in stock as the TZ130 is discontinued.

MacMall has horrible resellerratings.com ratings and looks like a place to totally avoid.

Not sure about their reseller rating - but I ordered a TZ for overnight delivery and stayed on them with my credit card validation and recieved it the next day - the box had a significant dent - but it did not really effect the machine.
