I have had my TZ150 since September and it's been great. I really like the computer and have rapidly come to depend on it. It's fantastic to carry around and fits great into my little Timbuk2 bag.
A couple of weeks ago it got knocked off the table. Everything still works great which is awesome. I have been extremely careful with it though because when it fell, it cracked one hinge and broke the other. I called Sony and took the laptop over to a local place called Chipheads. Both quoted me close to $300 to fix it. Chipheads said $189 + probably $100 in parts. And they wanted me to leave my laptop with them for 4 days or more.
I have no idea whether these are reasonable prices or not. But one thing I am skilled with is computers. I think I'm a chick who knows what she's doing. I've opened up the innards on my old Dell to install RAM and I disassembled my ASUS G1 that I spilled coffee on last year.
I want to try fixing the hinges myself. I have found some links to disassembly pictures here and am hoping to be able to replace the parts. Can anyone tell me how to go about getting replacement parts for the TZ150? It appears that the hinge attaches to the top panel, so I'll need that at the very least...
If all else fails, I might be able to Charm a chiphead into ordering me some parts. But I doubt it. The few times I've worked with hardware guys I've had to spend a considerable amount of time just convincing them that I'm not a moron because I'm a chick.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!

My charm works better in person I'm afraid. Doesn't work so well over the phone with support. Besides, I'd still have to mail it away for 2 weeks. I'd rather just fix over the weekend.

If you knew exactly what the part numbers were of the parts you needed you could always order them from Sony direct:
