    How much "faster" or performance difference is there between the TZ190N Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor U7600 (1.2GHz, 2MB L2 cache) and the TZ180N Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor U7500 (1.06GHz, 2MB L2 cache.

It appears on the Sony Stle website there is a $400 difference plus a case with the TZ190N. Thanks for your help....Allandpm

The speed difference isn't that much but if you want to future proof (Hahahaha..I have to laugh) your machine a little I would suggest going with the faster CPU. BTW, the case goes for $200 retail (I picked one up for $150 off of ebay).

From what I can tell, the 180 is in the bordeaux color, the only U.S model to have that color and has a 1.2 vs 1.06 ghz Core 2 Duo processor in the 170. There will be such a small difference in performance between the two, its the ram that will be important, both have 2gb of ram which is fine for Vista. The 4200rpm hard drive may be troubling though.

it really depends on what kind of applications you will be using.

    For example:
It will be faster if you are going to encode DVD's into Avi files.

It will not be faster if you are browsing the net or using office applications.

So what are you going to use it for?
