    He even offers to let you collect and pay cash.

    I wonder what the catch is here? RRP is £1600.

    He seems to sell loads of laptops and has feedback of 900+.

    Well if you buy from him and want to go and collect from that seller he will put your name through a credit check.
    Some people don't like this and won't buy from him. You also have to meet him in some place like a train station or whatever. He also does not seem like the most polite person to deal with.
    I think that what he sells is legit though but there might be other sellers that will let you collect with not having to go through some strange credit check.

    Edited to add:
    They get these things at near to trade prices because they go through dealers and buy in bulk.

    This one seems like a better deal they said that they have also got the receipt as well so you can see when they bought it and use that info to register your laptop with Sony. Sony will ask when you bought the laptop and the laptop____ whatever they are called might not be prepared to give you this info.
