Hey, I was just wondering how often your fan goes on ? Mine is on constantly under Vista , not that it makes much noise (depends on load) , but I can still hear it spinning. Does it ever go completely off for you guys ?

I have the same problem with my TZ. I wonder if anyone has a solution for this problem, short of buying earplugs, it's driving me crazy. I hope Apple unleashes a great new compact lappy soon, so I can dump this one.

And, to think, I sold my previous TZ because it was too quiet! :D

Does anyone have any solution for this? Is there a new version of Speedfan that's compatible with Vista, or some other utility that would let me throttle the fan?

Yes there is a solution to this. It's the same solution that extends your battery life and increases performance. It has 2 letters. :)

Speedfan will not solve your problem. You could try rmclock though.

Hehe, stop trying to get me to downgrade to XP, it just won't happen! :D

I will try rmclock, thanks for the tip, Phil!

OK, I installed RMClock and it reports that my core temperature is a constant 63-64 degrees. I know that's not normal, my ASUS occasionally reached that temp, but was usually 56 degrees.

Any other TZ owners care to post their core temperatures?

CPU temperature is around 59 degrees on average. Btw I found out it wasn't the CPU fan that was making that noise for my suprise it was the 160GB HDD. Now when I don't use it I just turn the second HDD off and the only thing I hear is mouse click.

I've already done that, but my core temp remains elevated at 64, so don't know if this is due to a defect or whatnot. It's 67 degrees right now. :(

TZ170N/B here and the fan is not constantly on. In the last 5 minutes of use, browsing the wen it came on twice for about 10-15 seconds each time.

I solved the fan problem! :)

It turned out that when I transferred my Outlook data files, while switching to MAPI to support my iPhone, Outlook insisted on using the send.pst file on the D: drive. Once I switched it back to the SSD, Outlook no longer hits the D: drive continously and the core temp is now 59.9 degrees! :D

Now, I have to just decide whether to get rid of Firefox, that other resource hog that raises core temperature!

Interesting points. Has anybody tried Opera instead of Firefox and had any experiences with temperature/fan with Opera?
