I have been trying to find a keyboard cover for my tz90, but haven't seen any.

Then I thought if there was one, I would be nice if it added glow in the dark lettering or something to make it easier to read the keys in the dark.

If there are any entrepreneurs out there, please read this...

Cool, but I can't find one on ebay specific to the tz series. Any search terms or a specific buyer I should check out?

    Thanks

Well each to their own... but I dont regret using one. Stops dust, pet hair and pretty much anything else for accidentally getting into the keyboard. I've had it on my SZ from day one and the main reason was to prevent the shiney wear and the oily look that you get after using the keyboard for a while. You can't prevent the oil because you hands naturally produce that. I was able to get alot more for my SZ when I sold it cos the keyboard looked brand new even after a year of use because of the cooskin.

ok I just uploaded some photos of it on the TZ. The skin has an area cut out so that it doesnt interfere with the built in speakers of the laptop. The Cooskn silver label is a bit annoying and I cant see any easy way of removing it, but it doesnt bug me too much. The letters are easily seen through the membrane, but because of the flash it doesnt show up too well. You can see how thin it is and that it is translucent and not clear plastic.

Thanks for the pics! Looks great, I never liked the keys on my laptop keyboards getting worn down and shiny overtime, where did you buy the skin? Is Ebay the only place? I'll get it for sure if I get a TZ.

I don't think it will fit the TZ, but it may.

The cooskin looks a lot better than I imagined. Nice pictures.

thanks guys. Yeah I got it from Ebay. The seller was Casmobi or something. I think the link you guys posted on the first page was the same seller. There's another seller from china xxxwor that I bought the one for my SZ. So far this is the only brand that makes custom covers for the entire sony range. It covers the entire shiney piano black finish and has cut out areas there the speakers are. It also comes with a micro thin double sided tape to secure the skin, but this particular model has enough suction/static to hold it in place. I had to use the tape for my SZ to stop it from falling/blowing off.

does it handicap closing the Tz by anymean? cuz the skin protection does have its own mass and size, so does closing the tz screen causes anything?

No it doesnt at all. I dont know if you can see from the photo where I'm lifting it up, but the skin is micro millimetres thick... I'd say about as thick as the generic intel centrino decals that you see on laptops. when you close the screen you dont get any marks on the LCD unless your screen gets pressure put on it in the laptop bag or case. This is also good because it would be rubbing against rubber/silicone and not the plastic keys hence less chances of it getting scratched unless there is a grain of sand or something, which in any case would scratch the screen with or without the skin on the keyboard.

I didn't think it would look as good as it does on your keyboard, very nice. you can't really tell from the pics. Does it inhibit typing in anyway? Meaning does it feel less natural being the TZ keys are small to begin with?

Yeah coming from an SZ, it took a bit of getting used to typing on the TZ, but thats because of the small form factor. Typing with the keyboard skin doesnt feel anymore different. It is a little weird at the start because of the silicone texture, but you get used to it. You can feel the orientation marker bump that sony put on the F and J keys through the skin, so that will give you an idea of how thin it is. The good thing is that it actually dampens the sound of the keyboard so its more quiet.

makaveli, those pictures are awesome and the skin looks much better than I thought it would! I have to get that for my next TZ, because the lettering wears off in no time, making an already hard to see keyboard even more difficult to use. I'm ordering mine right now!

Yeah so far I've only seen the two sellers on Ebay that have it for the TZ. There are some listed on Amazon, but they dont have the full range. Off ebay its about $10-15 and then $10 shipping... pretty much a no brainer... its not like you're spending heaps to think twice about it. They are very durable... I had the one for my SZ on for a year and the keyboard was in pristine condition when I sold it. So far with the TZ one I havent had to resort to using the doublesided tape that it comes with because there is enough suction/static holding it down. They are using a different silicone for this compared to my SZ skin. That was clear and more rigid, this is translucent and more flexible.
