I recently had to format my Sony Vaio VPCEB4D4E and my touchpad has re-enabled tap to click. Last time, I simply went into "Mouse" options and "Device Settings" and turn it off on the "Tapping" section. However, this time, it doesn't give me "Tapping", just "Buttons" and "Overview".
I already downloaded the Synaptics driver, but I have been using a USB mouse, if that makes any difference.
Any help?

See if the Synaptics icon appears in system tray on your task bar (near the clock), access settings if it's the case and the option to turn it off should be there.

Yeah, it is there, but it's greyed out for some reason.
-
Bump. Surely there is an easy solution to this.

I think your problem is right there. The greyed out icon indicates the driver is not loaded properly. Try rebooting without the USB mouse connected and see if the icon gets enabled again. Otherwise, look in Device Manager and see if updating the driver makes things any better.

I've tried that. And I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it without the mouse plugged in and it's still greyed out.
Any other suggestions? -
Bump.
Anyone? Or any other more appropriate forum to ask it on? -

Can you try one of the Synaptics reference drivers from their website and see what you get?

It's okay I redownloaded the Sony driver which was Alps and there was a 'Tapping' option on there
Thanks for your help anyway!
