Is there any kind of repository of old sony BIOS? I just did a recommended update through the Sony site for my old VGN BX-563B. It was supposedly an improved Bios to give improved fan control, etc. But now, the fan is on 100% of the time, even with no application running. Not only that, it seems to have capped the processor, I have several HD files which played fine prior to the update, now they won't even display due to choppiness. Literally, I now have the worst of both worlds. I can't believe this would be called an improvement in any way. I have never had any overheating problem. The computer is nearly 4 years old without any malfunction.

Immediately prior to the update, the fan used to come on a few seconds every few minutes, when starting a new app, etc.

    I have a Pentium Centrino 1.73GHz with 2GB ram.

    The BIOS is: PHBSYS-00965927-US.exe

I recommend that you refresh/re-install all other drivers found on the eSupport site as well. Sometimes a new BIOS can wreck havoc on the drivers.

    cheers ...
