I wish they would stop putting this in their reviews because it is completely false.
    From the Optimus Whitepaper
Now if we could only finish getting Optimus functioning fully on the Z11.

Other than that they look pretty darn close to me. You have to remember they comparing a 15" notebook vs a 13" notebook here. I would assume this is also without the extended battery on the Z.

I have to wonder if the Z was tested with trial software pre-loaded that would bog down resources. If so, it's already not a fair comparison.

Also, is OS X used to test the performance and battery life? AFAIK, battery life with OS X goes well together.

Test the 13" macbook vs the Z11 and let's see what the end result is :p Imagine if Sony had put the amount of effort they did in the Z and applied it to a 15" and 17" notebook w/the same money is no object approach. :O

I havent read the whole article by laptopmag but I cannot see where the MBP is better than the Sony Z? Also the Z they used to test against the new MBP is the Core i5 520m which is hardly a direct comparison and it still beat it!

Apple had to use a 15" chassis to get similar results as the Sony Z which shows what a good job Sony did to get all this power into a 1.4kg laptop. A closer comparison would be the MBP 13" which only has a Core 2 Duo and is heavier.

It can be argued with the Z's size and weight it is probably closer to the Mac Air and we dont really want to go there.

I have run Geekbench on a i7 Z and the result is almost the same as the MBP 15" (i7, GT330m)

Don't worry about it sycophants will always think the MBP is the best, no point in even engaging in this.
Also its not really fair to compare a non ultra portable to an ultra portable.

It would be nice to know because the i7 MBP is the closest laptop to compare performance with the Vaio Z.
