The CS is able to be CTO which the NS doesn't offer at all currently.

but what happened to the "barrel hinge"? weren't they going to incorporate it to their all upcoming laptops? kind of a signature?

The new CS and NS definitely look like older styles. My brother bought one of the "Black Friday" Sony specials last thanksgiving and it is like a spitting image considering these aren't even released yet and the amount of time they've had to re-design. I definitely like the barrel-hinge look as it adds class and I would assume helps with size too.

Erm, is the CS really claiming thin and portable at 5.7 lbs? Really, Sony?! :p

On the other hand, I see some of the appeal to it ... it's just a far cry from what I'm going for. And I seriously think the thin + portable claim at 5.7 lbs is laughable.

Heh...I saw the announcement for these the day after I ordered my SR, and was mad about the timing. Then I saw the pictures and decided, nevermind. My SR will be much nicer :)

Cost had better have been a HUGE factor for them to come out looking like multi-colored clam shells.

    Hm.
And I hate (strong word I know) the new barell hinge.
I think it looks absolutely dreadful which is why I love my SZ all the more.

I suppose its down to taste in the end.

I can't see an actual advantage to the laptop through it...
