Full HD is available regardless of which video card you choose. Also FullHD refers to the true 1080p screen included, so those going with the 200 series notebooks you will not get Hi Color. THE END

Not so fast. This is like beating a dead horse, but here is what a Sony product specialist told me. The Hi Color screen and the Full-HD screen both have 2 lamps and are brighter displays when compared with the regular ECO screen which has 1 lamp. Furthermore, the Hi Color screen has a special black grid in one of its layers. The rep was unsure whether the Full-HD screen had this black grid, but it is likely that it does, or it may have something similar. Regardless, the brightness between the HiColor and Full-HD screens should be almost exactly the same. Eventually, Sony should update their Specs page to include the FW 290 options.

I'm wondering if Sony wants to ensure they can get rid of their 190 stock before they let people buy a 200 Hi Color?
The 190 price reduction is a bit of an indication as to what is going on.
(That doesn't necessarily mean the hi def is or isn't hi color...) -
I wish they tried harder to get rid of the equivalent 190 model in the UK (the FW11), by reducing the price here... the top of the range FW11ZU is still £1300, and it's exactly what I want, cos the 1600x900 hi-coloUr screen is precisely what I want. My eyes couldnt take the strain of a higher res screen.
**** the UK and it's rip-off exchange rate and prices... -
just got an fw-290 and this screen is way brighter and colorful than the eco
The Official Sony FW 200 series screen FullHD is NOT HI COLOR Thread
