The Sony Vaio laptops are the only notebooks that you can use the Sony memory cards on?
By the memory cards, I mean like the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo that is used on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable

External card readers would do the trick.

I don't believe so. I think other notebooks support the MemoryStick as part of a multi-card reader. I'm pretty sure one of my newer Acer notebooks accepts them. -
But it would comfort me more if it was without an external card reader just directly built in
Which Acer? -

Acer 3680 and 5920g both take memory sticks, although for a duo I need to use the little adapter. -
The Sony memory sticks that I have specifically mentioned?
For the duo you have to use what kind of adapter? -

The adapter for the ProDuo cards look like this.... LINK
Your MS Pro-Duo will fit inside this card then you put it in the laptop card reader. Some Pro-Duo's even come with this adapter. -

Both my tecra notebooks have a built in card reader that supports it.
I'm guessing that most notebooks would. You can just read the manual (download online before you buy the notebook). -
Thanks!

I use an external pocket-sized card reader, that is connectable to the computer (ANY computer) via either USB or firewire.
The advantage here is that not only can it work with ANY computer, but also that it can accomodate everything from MS pro duo, HG pro duo, SD, SDHC etc and onward to CF (compact Flash). It weighs in at around 20 gms or so.
