    Hi,

I have a FZ31M that has the NVIDIA graphics problem. I contacted a local Sony repair centre as directed by the Sony Support site but they weren't interested. I can't find an email address to contact Sony support directly.

Anyone on here had this problem and solved it? Either with or without Sony's help?

    Cheers

    Pete

Thanks pyr0, I did see those pages, but I am in the UK and can't see a UK contact address. The UK version of the support site points you at VAIO-link but there's nothing useful on there.

If it is the nvidia graphics problem then you should be entitled to compensation etc. It is the responsibility of the retailer to make this good so I'd pursue them instead of Sony unless it's a direct purchase. The Sale of Goods Act is what counts.

Sony had already extended the warranty for the defective Nvidia chip by 3 years.

Sorry, totally forgot about this thread. Yep, it was .com

Didn't you at least get a automated email reply from them?

This is an example of a automated one I received from them a few days ago:

    'Dear customer,

Thank you for contacting Sony VAIO Support.

We will endeavor to respond to your e-mail within 48 hours.

Please note our opening hours are Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 18:00

    Kind regards,

    Sony VAIO Support'

Anyhoo, go here and punch in your details, follow some relevant links and should be able to find contact details/email form for them:
VAIO : Sony Europe : Get in touch

or try going here and punch in 'sony' in the company field. to get a phone number: SAYNOTO0870.COM - Non-Geographical Alternative Telephone Numbers

One I tried successfuly was 0330 440 2060 (aka 0870 240 2408). Just follow the relevant options until you get through. Make sure you have serial number handy.

I would phone them if i were you, as they can take ages to reply.

    Good luck

Thanks for the replies. I did find a number and call them and for once received excellent service. They collected the Laptop yesterday morning and promised a 5 day turnaround under the extended warranty provided the issue does turn out to be the NVIDIA issue (which it will!). I then received a text today to confirm that it had made it to Sony and confirming the 5 day turn around.

    Cheers

    Peter

It's now 1:00 Friday lunchtime, the VAIO was collected on Tuesday and it's has just been returned with a new motherboard and working perfectly. Excellent service I have to say.

    Thanks for your help guys.

    Cheers
