Are they in stores then?
-
i just went to my sony store in waterloo, Ontario and they are still in the dark, so they should start coming in slowly, but the rep said they dont have any Z shipment for the next two weeks.

Not anymore more! Its now offical out in Canada for Aug 29

Weird, they have the perfect model for me. Too bad I already bought the FW.

256 MB of vRAM and a 1366x768 resolution. -
isnt this meant to have SSD and blu ray options? I just don't get it... Canada always gets screwed with the Spec options. US had the full range of Tz's, and Canada (at the start) only had the baseline model and only recently they started getting the SSD option models... 6-12 months later!
It's the same **** land mass... why not just give them the same options as the US?!??!! -
lol no one is getting screwed the model shown is the 540, the 590 comes with the blu ray and ssd.

interesting, comparing with the US CTO, Canada is cheaper at the lowest spec.
$1734 CAD vs $1849 US.
P8400, 2GB, 160GB.
And the CAD model comes with 9300 with 256MB, while the US comparison I used above is 128MB.
Canadians are better off this time.
Wonder if the saving comes from the integrated Sprint WWAN card. -
have you tried going through the CTO process on sonystyle.ca?
http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs...Id=20153&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921665515823
no SSD option or blu ray... -
again as I mentioned that is the 540 you are showing me, the 590 has the blu ray and SSD, and yes the 590 is available on sonystyle.ca

front page
128 GB Solid State Drive with RAID (64GBx2 dual channel) [add $700.00]
64 GB Solid State Drive [add $700.00]
Blu-ray Disc™ Read/Write Drive [add $500.00]
lol someone grab the 128 and back order it, maybe sony canada will have to honour the price
seems to be the same situation as with the FW, the 2.53 is cheaper than the other cpus :O and I can't select fresh start. -
I'm really hoping this is true and not a mistake. With all the glitches that have plagued the Canadian SonyStyle site, it could very well be a mistake, if it isn't then this might just be the perfect laptop for me. I wanted a pre-config and this model has everything I was looking for. 256MB of vRAM would be even better for games!

It seems all the Canadian vaio fans are suffering the delay of products, higher prices and the stupid sony store salespeople...so why dont we make a Canadian vaio user/fan thread here?
We should stick together and make life more easier by ourselves! -

what delay? the Z series was always meant to shop late august/early september, FW late july with august shipping for CTOs, prices are very similar to the US sonystyle site, do not compare BB, newegg pricing to pricing at canadian stores, it's a bit different here as you know.
as for the employees? it isn't only canada, most the people in retail stores know jack. -
Sony has been on top of the ball this time around. We dont really get the shaft as much in prices as we do in discounts, in the states you can get $300 off with two accessories, in canada you get a 20% off one accessory with a CTO purchase
.
The employees are embarrassing across the board, it seems once you get a job at sonystyle you start drinking their kool aid. almost anyone on this forum can do a better job then they do

Well, I'll add that the salespeople at the Metrotown Burnaby Sony Store are just plain out of touch and unfriendly. I asked one of them a few days ago about the Sony Z laptop and he didn't know what I was talking about. When I told him the model name, he kept telling me "Sir, you are mistaken. That is actually a TV." When I told him that it was a new Sony Vaio laptop and was just calling to enquire as to when this model would be appearing in their store, the smug salesman acted like they wouldn't be receiving this model at all and that the only way to get it would be to order it online. I reminded the salesman that this was their flagship model and he just reiterated that they would not be getting it at all.
I find that if you go downtown to the Pacific Center Sony Store in Vancouver you'll get better service and the people working their actually know what they are talking about. When I buy my laptop, I will go back to this store, even though the Burnaby one is much closer to me. -
Does anyone know if I can get a discount, free accessory, etc, in a Canadian Sony Store? Will they be more flexible, if I tell them I'd also like an extended warranty?
-
you could try, but I doubt it, the idiots at coquitlam are the same
ha athough a few years back there was one guy who knew about forthcoming products, mp3 players, but he doesn't work there no more.
-
I totally agree with you, this time they did better than before. Z series price has been equal or lower. But anyone noticed they didnt offer P9500 option for CTO Z590 but they have it in Z590? The websites in Canada always updates later here.
The employees in Toronto Sonystores are especially awkward. The best thing they can do is showing you how to use smile shutter of cybershot to show you they are trained!
Again I highly suggest this thread to be an official Canadian vaio user thread. We can share our experience and complain or whatever...is there anyone with me????

Great idea!
I noticed something else when I was on Sony's website today. If you are looking for an extended warranty with a CTO machine these are the prices you'll be offered:
None - [ $0.00 ]
1 Year Extended Sony Care Warranty - [ $199.99 ]
2 Year Extended Sony Care Warranty - [ $329.99 ]
However, if you select the pre-config VGNZ555DNB model, these are your extended service care options:
1 Year Extended Warranty $119.99
2 Year Extended Warranty $169.99
3 Year Extended Warranty $239.99
4 Year Extended Warranty $309.99
http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/se...derItem_id=7832320&parent_part_num=VGNZ555DNB
Not bad, if you ask me
Yet another reason why I prefer pre-config machines. I wonder why it is so much cheaper?

that should do it

Yea I hear u guys but ill tell you somthing though, its not that the sales guys dont know what their talkin about IMO, but if u noticed, especially me as ive been phoning every Sony Store and hearing the samething and from everyone on forums, that they all say: Theres no new laptop coming. So logically u should know that their told to say that cuz they do not want to release information. Why u ask? Do I look like the president of Sony? But yea thats why the all say the exact samething.
The Vaio Z CTO is in Canada
