I've been looking into getting a laptop and i'm normally a desktop guy but I need it for work so I figure might as well spend way too much money and get something that can replace my desktop and be light and portable. Which pretty much is just the z series, havent found hardly any other notebooks that are fully portable but can also pump out decent graphics when you need it. Anyways, I'm just looking for some info from current owners and what their opinions are. Basically, I would like to hear the downsides, and there are always downsides so not too much fanboying. I'm looking toward getting the 690 CTO with 2.53, 4 gigs, and the 7200 rpm drive. A couple of things about the config though, would the owners of the carbon fiber model say its worth it? I know its only $50 but I don't wanna get it and not like it. The other thing is if the 7200 rpm drive is gonna drop the battery capability compared to a slower drive? Oh and what kind of battery life do you guys get?

lastly...is there any way to save some money on this monster?

Not true. I found the answers to all your questions within 2 minutes, by using the search tool. Face it, you haven't even attempted to look for any answers.

You know, I'm a member of a lot of forums and when someone asks a question that could be found through searching I just answer cause I know when people want to make a buying decision they might be trying to trike up a conversation about the product not just get simple answers. I know that they want opinions not answers from current owners. For those reasons I have never once just on anyone with the "just use the search" response like so many others do.

I made the post to get some responses from people who own a model z already and their current opinions of it. As well as their impressions on the things I asked about. If someone is curious about purchasing a piece of technology that I greatly enjoy I am more then happy to help them with their decision and share my opinions of it.

and for your information I have been reading through the majority of the threads here about the Z already, that doesnt make this thread irrelevant. It takes just as much effort to make a post about the search as it does to just help make this world a happier place.

You make a good point. However, you're not the first one to ask about other people's opinion on the Z. There are tons of posts doing just that: opinion on what they think about their Z. You'll get a better answer through searching the forum which contains more opinions than you could possibly ask for than starting a new thread. You'll get replies, but not even a fraction of what's already posted.
