    Hi all

I cant help but say this to get peoples opinions

Would it ever be possible for Sony to make a Vaio that is close to the macbook air. I love the macbook air but it still lacks features. With Sony's brains can't they make something which combines features from the Vaio Z and Macbook Air, i wouldnt mind something like a thinner Z series with a backlight keyboard and better graphics with a better trackpad and better battery life. With hardware getting smaller as the years go by can this be done?

    Thanks

imho, Z is already superior than mac air.
thinner notebook dont come with better gpu (dedicated gpu), take alook on their X505; as having smaller notebook with dedicated gpu is already heat house. i dont get why people need a backlight keyboard so bad, at least everytime i read about a new notebook nowadays...
tho, its good to have if you are working in dark place, but this stuff is optional to me.

ps: you can slip the Z into envelope still.

Instead of backlit keyboard just get a USB light that clips on LCD lid. You do lose one USB port but should be fine in most cases.

Actually, just tilt the screen toward the keyboard a little bit more is usually enough for me. It doesn't work that well with screen that has poor vertical viewing angle, but it's not going to be a problem for Z.

I would love to see a sequel to the X505.

I don't get the obsession with the old X505, it required some neat engineering, but still it took thiness to the extreme--like the Macbook Air.
