Hi, folks,
Have heard many times there was a certain sequence in which all the stuff has to be installed. However I always did it the simple way, first all drivers then all utilities. It worked for me.
Now the question - does the sequence matter? If yes, is there an "official" doc on how to install the sony stuff in the right way?

Just install the Chipset drivers first because everything else connects to that.

Depends on the hardware.
On my old Medion you only had to instal the bluetooth driver pretty quickly as else Bluetooth was lost (XP) - I don't know what was wrong, else you could instal in any order you pleased.
Vaio's because for example fn keys are library based there is actually a specific order - the library comes somewhere at the start - for Vaio's.
Also on the SZ for example you had to instal using the NVidia card first, then switch to the Intel one as it would end in a mess otherwise... etc. -

On most Sony machines, the order does make a difference. The reason is that some of the drivers rely on some common files that are installed as "Sony Network utilities" or some such name (again this varies by model). If you install the driver first, it can't find these common files it needs. Then some things like function keys or on screen display of the brightnes controls don't work as expected.

So, guys, I found something:
Windows Vista Clean Install Process
Looks like utilities need to be installed first... -
There are many clean install guides. Please search before posting here.

While generally that would have been my initial response too, in the original message he did ask an "official" doc. (Which he subsequently found.)

The right installation sequence of drivers & utilities? Myth or reality?
