Im thinkin of getting this machine but im contemplating whether shall I wait till January see if there will be Arrandale i7 on this unit and any changes in the processor ,id love P9700 or an Arrandale i7 on this .
Does anyone know which is better C2D > 2.6ghz or Arrandale ?
Does T9600 on CW gets hot ?

Dell, might of been the 1st ones to jump on the bandwagon on getting i7 CPU on a good amount of their laptops that compare up to the CW but i think Sony will wait to see how the heat works out with it since i know Sony laptops have really nice cooling systems. I have seen and read quite a good amount of reactions from Dell users who have i7 CPU's in their laptops and most if not all turn out to have alot , and i mean alot of heat problems. I would say that by January CW wont have the i7 CPU, since CW is on backorder on quite a few items such as GT230m GPU, and blu ray drives, hopefully by the end of Dec, or at the start of Jan they should have their stock back. we can wish but its not sure yet but they might have updated parts by Jan, including higher P9xxxx series processors, as they run cooler having the 25w TDP vs the 35w TDP on the T series.
and your question on the T9600 CPU i cant say for sure as there are only a very small handful of users who have picked that CPU and we havent gotten a clear response from them as ofyet. We have gotten good responses from users who have the P series CPU while doing intensive CPU heavy tasking and even good amount of heavy gaming with newer games games like MW COD2 for a few hours and all they noticed is that the laptop gets warm as laptops should but not at all hot especially not as hot as dell laptops gets, so at the moment you should be good to go with the P8700 CPU. hope this helps you decide
EDIT: here is a post from a user who has a P8700 CPU and his view on the heat -
Hmmm ,thats useful information right there, thanks anyway i might have to wait till mid Jan to order either CW or any new 15" vaio laptop, how's Vaio shipping service compared to Dell's, I have heard many delays from dell

well at this time of year everyone is gonna delays since its the holiday season
, but by january it should die down and everyone should be back on schedule and on time

What if I OC P8700 just slightly =D
-
well, some users in the CW thread have OC their CPU's most people OC to a high level with the T6600 and P7450 card and are getting quite a lot of BSOD
but some OC their P8700 to just a moderate boost and its running quite okay for them plus alot of improvement in games and other tasks, and best of all still doesnt get hot, stays are same temps if not then just a couple degrees here and there, so im sure P8700 GPU can take a good amount of whatever you throw at it. -
I wouldn't say there is gonna be a massive heat difference between the P8700 and the T9600... theres 10w between them, but the CW has an excellent cooling system, and the p8700 idles at around 25-35c, under load it never goes past 60c, so expect the t9600 temps just to be a bit higher. most of the bottom of the case is always room temp, with 2 warm spots but they're not hot at all .
IMO the t9600 is an overkill. the p8700 has more than enough power to run anything, and it runs cooler, and it's cheaper
The CW really is something sony has perfected. -
I'm gonna get the extended battery ( 9 cells I suppose ) what would be an estimation of battery life I can expect ? School -> 5 hours ?
Thinking of getting Vaio CW
