    Hi,

    Can anyone recommend a battery?

Nothing wrong with this machine, except the battery doesn't last like it used to of course.

I'm fairly certain i can't get one out of Sony, so does anyone know if any of the 3rd party manufactured alternatives are any good? From ebay etc?

    Thanks in advance x

I'm fairly sure you can get one from Sony but it will cost about 3 times as much as the unofficial ones.

However, if you decide to go for the unofficial ones, be sure to find out if it will work without an unofficial BIOS change. Z1 BIOS is somewhat trickier than these guys expect.

I will need to be doing this pretty soon - my battery is showing 18.5% wear. Keep us posted on how you get on.

    Thanks anytimer,

I emailed Sony and they directed me to Sony A1892310A

Not sure if that's OEM or not...but good enough for them to recommend certainly....

Tough choice. Battery bar is showing wear at 64%, but i still managed to get 2-2.5 hours out of it the other day, but it's short enough to be inconvenient.

£100 is risky, as the rest of it could fail at any time (I think 4.5 years is pretty good innings for a laptop). I could get a duty free Macbook Air for £800odd duty free....not that i have the time to transfer from one to the other at the moment.....

    Decisions decisions....

Like I said, about 3 times the price of a non-Sony battery. Search for VGP-BPS20/B on ebay, etc. and see if they have a good return policy. (VGP-BPS20/S for silver)

I have two high capacity Sony batteries for the Z1 series, each with about 85% capacity. If interested, PM me. Jeff Bellin
