Are you running a Santa Rosa system?

Because if you are running Santa Rosa or Napa you will only use PC5300 (or PC5400 it's sometimes called) running at 667 Mhz... So paying for RAM at 800 Mhz would just be a waste since it would downclock to 667 anyway. :)

    Hope this helps! :D

It is, yes. However, if it's an older system (non-Montevina), it will be downclocked to 667MHz, instead of 800MHz.

You just need to have a 64-bit operating system before you upgrade, otherwise your OS will only "see" 3.25GB or so.

Technically it sees 4 GB after SP1 with a 32 bit OS but it only uses 3-3.5 GB. ;) XD

I know that's what you probably meant JM but I thought I would clarify nonetheless. :)

The FW is indeed a Montevina platform laptop, so it looks like I'm good to go then.

    Thanks.
