    - Does anyone have an SR with integrated graphics yet?

    - So, the SR with the HD 3470 DOES get around 3.5 hrs battery life for sure - i.e. wifi-on, legible/usable brightness, word/browsing.

***- Can ANYONE try/has ANYONE tried installing Windows XP on their SR and checked the battery life difference between XP and Vista? Someone PLEASEEE!

    XP Drivers here:

    Thanks!

I don't have the integrated graphics, and well, I can't install XP either right now. however, the SR with the discrete will get 3.5-4 hours with what I would consider normal use. When I'm playing games it'll last like 2-2.5 hours. And if I turn the settings all the way down and do like nothing but word process or maybe web browsing, it gets like 4-5 hours.

for the 3.5/4 hour result, is wifi on and is brightness set at a comfortable level?

I have the same model as the poster above (ATI 3470), and while I haven't actually sat down and timed the battery life, the estimator actually never gets above three hours on Balanced, so I actually have my doubts as to whether mine can actually muster three-and-a-half on average.

As to the Windows XP install, I have actually installed it before on mine (ah, the boot-time was so beautifully short), but reverted back to Vista for lack of drivers. Of course it's just my luck that someone would find them right as soon as I install all the programs I want in Vista...Sorry I can't help you out on that one, but IMHO you shouldn't buy this computer if your main concern is battery life, no matter which OS or graphics card you put in it. If you can, just wait for Lenovo's X200 and enjoy the bliss of a nine-hour battery instead of a three-hour one.

I never really liked Lenovo's boring design and the X200 - judging by the X300 price - is WAYYYY out of my price range - meanwhile, I generally love Sony designs (I already go to a nerd school, I don't need to look any nerdier). I don't like the lack of a touchpad in Lenovo laptops either.

Could you try XP again sometime soon, please?!

I'm just trying to decide if the ability to play CSS would be worth a 1.5hr hit in battery life.

x200 won't cost anything near the x300, unless you go for solid state drive, etc.

It's not as small either ( I can't remember?) as the x300 (so you are paying less for something a little bigger x200, as x300 is the only 13" laptop from Lenovo). I've been seeing some estimates of the x200, and they are around the same price as the SR. (I could be wrong, but I'm positive it's no where near as expensive as x300. XD

As to the decision you have to make, well, that's all up to you. It's pretty hard to find something in a 13" or less form that has a decent graphics card in it that isn't integrated. (Thermal budgets would be my guess. The not as powerful cards don't run as hot, and are more efficient.)

    Last time I checked.

I was just giving you an idea since you had mentioned the price of it. That's all. Too bad almost all Thinkpads have that nice keyboard design that you can't get anywhere else. @_@

I would suppose that it depends on the hardware and the drivers on if XP would score better in battery life. I'm curious as well. (Sometimes Vista gives better battery life to netbooks it's been tested on, but that's moot I suppose, as it's entirely different hardware.)

So, sorry I can't help more.

Hehe, thanks for the concern - just that there's this dude in one my classes, looks reeeeaaally nerdy with a Thinkpad and the design overall seems rather boxy.
And OMG the X200 doesn't have an optical drive....

I NEEED TOOOOO KNOWWWWW, XP or VISTAAA.

Oh, right, I forgot about that with the x200. I don't think it would suit many people very well, really (unless you are looking for something like the Macbook Air but cheaper and windows. Eh). @_@

Ah, I see. xD I know someone with a Thinkpad, but it kind of suits him... So eh. This old HP laptop I was using was like, light-blueish gray and had dents in it and I thought that looked bad.

Well, I'll shut up now, since I'm not really adding much to the thread. I'll be just watching this to see if anyone does give XP a try on the SR. (I'm better with XP than Vista, so I might see if an upgrade would do any good with battery life.)

I would install XP but I don't have an XP disc..

If I borrowed an XP disc from a friend, could I use my serial number on the bottom of the SR to activate XP? Or is that serial only for Vista?

I would be more than happy to try XP, as long as the drivers..and ALL the drivers are readily available and working.

Well the drivers should be available at the link I posted on the OP - just sign in and make sure they're THERE before you try, if you're going to, because I don't have a serial number so I can't check out if they do.

I don't think you can use the Vista key for XP...

    ummmmmm.... bittorrent?

I think there's one problem with that.

I think the activation key for Vista is only for Vista. I think you'd have to buy a License for Windows XP that isn't currently being used. Meh. Technicality. (At least, from what I've been hearing about product keys for XP and Vista)
