    To Signature or not?

I've been thinking a few weeks now as to what to get and can't come to a decision.
Basically I'm wondering whether I should buy the $4500 Z signature.

1.If I fully equipped a CTO model, it would come at $350 for glossy carbon + Full HD screen. Is this really worth 350?

2.Also, on my previous Blu-ray equipped laptop, the HP HDX 16T, I didnt use the
drive or even Blu-ray as much as I thought I would.

3.I'm also considering resell value, as I dont keep my laptops much longer than a year. I think many on this forums do. Would this justify buying a $4500 laptop?

So my question is to all the VPCZ11FHX/XQ Signature owners or soon-to-be owners, what made you decide on this instead of the CTO option?
Is the $350 dollar really worth it for screen and a glossy finish?
Did you consider resale value? As the price of laptops diminishes very very quickly. In one word, why did you go ahead with the Signature instead of other cheaper options in the Z line?

I discovered today that you also get a screen Cleaning Cloth with the signature model, don't forget that in the many advantages :D

But seriously, FHD is pretty much the only reason IMHO, beyond the 'I got every single possible options maxed-out' attitude that works with some people when buying car too ! (and BTW, I'm not judging here, I don't like to have a car with an option described in the user manual that is not installed in my model !)

The glossy carbon looks good, but a little too piano like for me to be honest. This is not a Steinway, it's a Sony Vaio... I kinda like the non glossy carbon look of my previous Z better but my new one still looks awesome, if it makes sense. Pure matter of taste.

However, the HD screen was worth it to me.

I don't think you'll find somebody that can tell you how to decide, it's really a personal opinion/taste at this point.

What option is described in the user manual that is not installed?
Also did Sony include the $4500 invoice with the thing. As I plan to have it shipped to my US home and to my vacation home here in the Caribbean. Customs would simply kill me with that 4500 dollar invoice.
Lastly does the WWAN have a sim card slot?

For me it was only about the Full HD. I do have the old gen. Z which I actually JUST purchased 4 months ago but again, I'm a screen real estate junkie and wanted the Full HD.

No it does not. The "Slot" is sealed off with nothing behind it (I assume you're referring to the US model).

No invoice for me, just a packing slip.

I've asked this before in a couple of other threads, but so far I've gotten little response (maybe because few people have received their Signature Zs yet):

    • How glossy is the glossy carbon fiber?
    • How much of a fingerprint magnet is it?
    • How hard is it to clean fingerprints?

Teofred posted some great pictures of his new Signature Z and said that it's pretty glossy. While I'd prefer a matte finish, I'm not sure how much of a concern this should be . . . especially since I need the 1920x1080 screen.

Yes, it is glossy (piano finish like). Fingerprint are not *that* bad, but they definitely show. You can get them off pretty easily (well, probably depend what you had on your fingers when you made the print but I digress) with the included cleaning cloth.

On the Signature, does it say anywhere on the box or the laptop itself that it's the Signature series?

Note, never says signature as far as I can tell. It says VPC-Z11FHX/XQ with the detailled specs on the side of the box and it is in a standard CTO box (as it is manufactured by the CTO guys in San Diego).

At least in the US of course, looks different in Asia maybe.

How easy is it to read text on the 1080p screen?
