Hey guysI have a small issue i need you guys to help me out with. I hope this doesnt seem like too much to ask if it is please forgive the intrusion. I have a Vaio VPCSC i bought at bestbuy in June of 2011, It has served me well, i have a Crucial M4 256GB SSD in it and 4gb more of ram for a total of 8gb, I can purchase a new one for work, but not sure if i should or what to buy. I can purchase a SA for 700-800 dollars and that will upgrade the video card, and screen itll still be an I5, so in the processor side i wouldnt get that much of a bump, or should i get an SVS or maybe should i just wait??I have a sheet battery so id like to not loose that.My main question for you is, will the higher res make a notable difference in day to day usage?? enough to merit the purchase??As this is maybe my main reason to going to the SA or SVS. Thanks in advance for your opinions as they will be very much appreciated. BTW i work with mainly emails, And PDFS.

Why do you want to upgrade? What is it about your present model that you find lacking? If it is still working fine, why upgrade at all?

I would say No to upgrading unless your finding your SC's screen resolution is unacceptable for the documents you are working with. Unless the SA comes with a SSD, you will notice a big downgrade in performance (boot times, file access times) coming from your SC that has a SSD.

Thanks a ton!!!!I do find the SC a very capable machine at the time...I just had the opportunity to get a laptop and have my office pay for it. So i figured i jumped on it as my SC i bought with my own cash. I do find the RES lacking sometimes on large pdf Diagrams, but nothing major i guess, I love the ffact that it has a bluray, i was thinking bout getting an S13A loaded with an I7 and have that be my work system for the next 2-3yrs, sell my SC with the factory harddrive and pass my ssd to the new one along with installing an 8gb dimm. that should do it for a while!!I love the S series in my opinion and would like to stick to it for a while. I just cant think of anything that comes close to being so versatile. I do game abit from time to time. So we shall see. Ill let you guys know what happens. But its safe to say ill be haging around here for a while.THANKS!!!

I think you buried the lead here! Free laptop? Most definitely upgrade! In my view, to not accept this benefit is like saying, "no thanks, I don't need that $1,000 raise!" Go for it.

Well, here's the story. I took in consideration buying a Z2, trust me this was such a hard choice. BUt i couldnt find one with and upgraded processor than the SC, for around the budget i wanted i could only finde the 128gb i5 2410 model, and trust me i woudlve loved it anyways, but needed to feel the upgrade was more worthwhile, i hope i didnt dissapoint anyone here...hehehe..i ended up getting an S13P, with the 1gb 640 and the i7. I've already put 8gb on it more for a total of 12gb and will be taking the 750gb drive and putting in my 256gb M4 along with my 64gb SD card. I need the optical drive for work so that has to stay. Only thing i regret not having is the Blu-ray not because i need it, but itd be noce to have. Probably after i sell the Sc i can get one online and replace the ODD. Also later on ill buy a 512gb SSD and put the 256 on my macbook pro. So far i the s13P is what i exepected pretty much the same build as the SC maybe a bit sturdier. Havent played on it yet but i will. Also the Screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It is so much better than the SC, i know many criticize the 720p display on the SA and Premium S but coming from the SC its like night and day!!!!Once the SSD is on im pretty sure itll be no slouch. So ill keep you guys posted!!!! good thing above all is i get to keep my slice battery!!! Thanks guys!!
