Do people keep their stickers on or take them off? I usually leave them alone. On my Thinkpad, they eventually fell off on their own after 4 years but there is a permanent mark where they were due to uneven wear on the palm rest. My Z11 stickers are already starting to peel off. Should I just remove them? Will it hurt the resale value?
-
Take them off and put some DIY Bestskinsever film over it. Leaving them on is going to allow the rest of palmrest to fade while leaving the plastic under the stickers looking like new, which looks horrible IMO.
-
I found a place on the bottom for the stickers that I wanted to keep.
-
I pull them off right away, it looks so noob with them on.
-
^amen, kinda like leaving the stickers/tags on ballcaps....
-
I keep them, because most of the time they will leave some kind of glue behind, no matter how good you wipe it or use stuff to remove it.
Besides, with these specs why not show it of?
I get a warm fuzzy feeling when I see the i7, 1080p and blu-ray stickers.
-
I peeled off all my stickers because I got my palmrest invisible shielded. The stickers came off very easily and no goop was left behind. As other posters have mentioned, if you leave the stickers on too long and they fall off later on, you will see an outline mark of where the sticker used to be.
The first stickers to go, like a few days after I got the computer were the backlit keyboard, Cnet recommended laptop, and energy efficient stickers. Then when I got it invisible shielded, off went the "show off" stickers.
I personally think the Z looks bad with stickers because the design of the computer is so sleek, then it's ruined with these oddly colored stickers. The palmrest is also kind of small, so the whole line of stickers to the right of the trackpad makes the computer look "asymmetrical" due to the size of the sticker to palmrest ratio.
Aesthetically speaking, you can't go wrong with removing the stickers! -
Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
Actually if you use the sticker itself to remove the rest of the adhesive, it works really well, i managed to get it all off that way. (Just DON'T take an eraser to your palmrest).
I say, take them off! But then again... I only had an i7 sticker... no blu-ray or FullHD... but DO take off the energy star sticker (unless you're an environmentalist... I've dealt with my share, note the avatar
)

it's been a month since i've had my laptop and i use it moderately. Im wondering will there be a outline mark if I peel them off ?
-
Take them off right away...I can't fathom a reason to leave them on. I like a clean look.
Mine came off pretty easily. Just take it slow, and as mentioned earlier, use the sticker itself to remove any residue left behind. -
Removed all mine on day2
Hairdryer for smooth removal -
You shouldn't use any household cleaners on a laptop, a safe cleaning solution for metal and plastic is 60% distilled water, 40% isopropyl alcohol, but don't clean your screen with that because it may not be safe for the AF coating.
-
I just noticed the tiny Energy star sticker
-
If you are going to remove them, you should removed them as soon as possible, or else it will be more likely to leave glue marks and the uncovered palm rest could have changed color already.
I always remove all my stickers especially those warning label or advertisement like logo on day one. However, I usually leave the Intel and Nvidia stickers, because I am a big fan of their products and they look pretty cool and are usually high quality enough that I know they will not fall apart in the future. -
Just took them off. It's been 4 months but no permanent marks.
-
I take mine off for clean minimalistic look.
-
Another vote for off. First thing, during its initial bootup even (which on a Z means you gotta be pretty fast
).
-
+1 for sticker removal.
The stickers don't look to bad IMO, but after long term usage, they definitely will wear, the glue dissolves slowly and you can slide the stickers around after a time. If your laptop is seeing sunlight often, the sun is bleaching your palmrests color just a tiny bit (had it on my old HP) and when you then remove your stickers, you clearly will see the place where it has been (darker rectangle) -- this is all depending on the quality of the paint, but as we all know, the palmrest is fading anyways.
On the other hand, the Z will look even nicer and cleaner having the stickers pulled off. For the show-off-factor, I used an i7 and nvidia sticker I got and put it at the bottom case. If anybody wants to see what I got under the hood, I just flip over the laptop, but hey silly sh**, who's interested in that? -
I was placing stickers on my old notebooks every time when I had a space for them, adding Razer orochi sticker, AIDS Logo... but with my new Z1390 I decided to remove all stickers. I tried to put my i7 and nvidia stickers on the bottom but they wear damaged when I pulled them out. I decided to pull the stickers out to put my skin protection and the z1390 looks a lot better without the stickers on it in my opinion

First thing I did was to get rid of them all...
Used goof_off to remove the left over glue residue.. -

But it's very hard to brag about the i7 without the stickers: "i7 in that small machine? Yeah right....". With the stickers I can get all the skeptics to eat their words
-
I pulled off all my stickers. On the other hand, if I had an i7...
I would probably make an exception for that sticker.
-
But it will put Apple fanboys in their place and that alone almost makes it worth it. ;p
-
take it off! tacky tacky tacky imo
-
I took them off from my Z13, they're ugly...
Even if i have bought an i7, cause in 2 years, that will be an old processor and sticker will be hard to remove. -
My Z got this Vaio Care sticker. Should I use my fingernail to remove it?
-
I used a laminated piece of paper (that was credit card sized) and slipped it in between the sticker and the palmrest to get an edge up. I just worked this laminated paper so that 3/4 the sticker came up, then I peeled it off with my fingers. Essentially I used a thin version of a credit card. I would just be careful that if you use your nails, you don't scratch the palmrest.
-
I removed my stickers. After throwing them away, I learned the demand for the BluRay sticker. I could have been $2 richer had I known.
I didn't like the stickers as they always reminded me of how it looks at the store. Marketing marketing marketing. I don't need people to know I have an i7. It is sweet though. -

A great laptop doesn't need stickers to impress
Get them off.
To sticker or not to sticker? That is the question.
