I have an SZ220P and it's got a weird touch pad problem.

I've read on the net about others who get a problem where the direction reverses, but in my case, the thing goes haywire! I am only using the pad itself, not the buttons, and all of a sudden it starts moving erratically (sometimes you can't see it, it just appears) and it's left and right clicking, resizing, opening things up, closing others, minimizing, maximizing etc. Just with a small brush on the pad it does all of that from any direction!

So I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions? I've taken the comp in for repair and the tech report says something was replaced but i still have the problem. I've had a complete factory reinstall of XP so its not a corrupt driver - its still occuring. Its also not in conjunction with an optical mouse nor hibernation or standby.

It's occuring 2-3x per day on average, randomly????

The only way to fix it besides riding it out and screwing up my computer is to alt-tab to another vid window; and if no other vid windows are open, then to ctrl-esc to open the start menu.

This "trick" stops the erratic movement but the mouse is still unable to function (clicking, hyperlinks, etc) other than basic movement control.

So I'm prob gonna call Sony again tomorrow and prob take the comp in. I'm a little fed up with them at the moment as their tech/customer lines are total crap - no help is given (unless you can consider moves that make your comp much worse off as negative help a form of help...) But I'd like to know if anyone else has experienced this or knows what it is so I can help direct the technicians.

    Thanks!
