My husband bought me this Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F as an early VDay present. I love it with one exception, the touchpad! I notice it only acts up when the computer is idle and takes a few seconds to start working properly. My husband suggested I return it for another one but before I do that I want to see if anyone else has had this problem. Is it going to make a difference if i exchange it?

I would contact Sony support live chat first and see if they can explain if it is a power setting or something simple. If this does not work contact Sony support by phone. You may also want to see a display model to see if it acts up the same way.

Try updating your touchpad drivers. Is it a synaptics or ALPS touchpad?

    It is an alps touchpad.
I read something about it being an electrostatic touchpad. I guess I am full of static  I will try updating the driver. thanks
