My touchpad stopped working tonight after I rebooted the computer. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ALPS drivers but no luck as it is not even recognized in Device Manager anymore. I've tried System Restore to an earlier time when it work fine but no luck. I also tried booting from the Windows setup DVD to see if it works there (as it should be) but it doesnt work there either. :(

The thing is I had cleaned its surface a couple hours earlier with lens cleaner so Im worried that somehow it had damaged it. Is there any way to test it if it really is damaged and if it needs to be replaced?

Nevermind, I fixed the problem by unplugging the computer and removing the battery for about a minute and then the touchpad worked once again when I rebooted!
