    Hello, folks,

I've been trying to do a clean install and I've observed some weird behavior with the Intel driver.

I'm using an Intel X25-M SSD drive. It reports some of the SMART data like this:

E2 Timed Workload, Media Wear = large number
    E3 Timed Workload, Host Read/Write Ratio = 0
E4 Timed Workload Timer = very large number

Whenever I install the said Intel driver, just after that the drive begins tp report weird SMART data:

    E2 Timed Workload, Media Wear = 65535
    E3 Timed Workload, Host Read/Write Ratio = 65535
    E4 Timed Workload Timer = 65535

From I can guess the driver fails to let certain SMART fields through from the drive to the OS.

Has anybody heard anything about this issue? The reason, why this is happening and how bad this is.

The only other disadvantage I've noticed is that the HDD Tune utility begins to crash regularly if the mentioned Intel driver is installed. Sometimes it reports wrong data for a conventional HDD, until I restart the utility. If I uninstall the driver, everything is back to normal.

    Any input?

Which Intel driver are you referring to?

Also, try check SMART data with CrystalDiskInfo.

The one mentioned in the thread title - "Intel SATA AHCI driver", which Sony offers for its laptops.

What is your VAIO model? How many drives are connected?
