I'm posting this in the Sony forum since all three models are Sony and I posted a while back in the "what notebook should I buy forum and got some wacky answers" I'm looking for a desktop replacement and got recommendations of 13" notebooks. Anyway...
I currently have a HP Pavillion dv9000 which is a 17" widescreen with Turion 64x2 TL-56 processor, 2Gb ram, 120GB hard drive, win XP media ctr. I'm looking to upgrade and was originally trying to choose between the FW and Dell Studio 17. Sony's 12 month financing was appealing so I started researching Sony notebooks exclusively. I was pretty much set to buy the FW and then came across the AR, then the AW.
The notebook is a multi-purpose item for me but needs to be powerful enough to multi-task between at least 2 intensive programs at the same time such as Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and I often have a couple of web browsers open when working on my web site. I do a great deal of photography and motion graphics so was drawn to the AW although I can't afford the top of the line (the $1800 Aw190 j/h configuration of the standard version, ie: no led backlight Adobe RGB model for me right now) but then I saw a lot of pessimism in the AW thread and wasn't sure if maybe I should try to max out a FW or AR instead.
Would be curious (and appreciative) to get some opinions on this. I'm hoping that anything I choose will be much better than what I have now but the Aw thread brought me down so now I'm not so sure. Please be aware that while I am artistically savvy, I'm not as technically savvy as the rest of you so maybe it will not be as bad to me.
Thanks,
Beth
