I just did this. Nice tutortial, and thank you for writing it. HOWEVER, there were a couple of important things that were different when I followed your tutorial:

I am using a TZ150. After I deleted my fingerprints, restarted, edited the BIOS like what you guide said, re-enrolled my fingerprints and restarted again, a window popped up and requested me to scan my finger.

So, the last few steps in your tutorial was totally simplified on my TZ150. I didn't have to open up Protector Suite again and go to enroll/edit fingerprints a third time (the step where each finger has 'Boot' above it, etc). Those blank slots were not there when I tried doing that step. However, everything still seems to be working normally.

Hah, good to know, thanks for noting it. However mine still doesn't show it - is it possible that a newer Protector version (v5.8) doesn't have it?

Thanks for the tutorial, but I can't use the power on feature for some reason. There's no extra boxes at the top of finger boxes.

I'm using Acer TravelMate 6460. The power on finger swipe worked since I bought it, but after a while (bios update perhaps) it stopped. Still works in windows though.
I got the latest bios, driver and Protector Suite installed.

In Control Center -> Power-on Security there are listed the fingers I scanned and the "Enable..." checkbox is checked. But on boot I get asked for a password instead my fingerprint.

    Any ideas?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think your laptop needs to have a TPM chip for the fingerprint reader to work at BIOS POST/boot.

you should be able to get it from the the sony esupport site for your model notebook. that model doesnt appear to be a u.s. model, so im not sure about that. otherwise, there is a post on this board(seems like search is still disabled though) about "latest software/drivers" that definately has the ps ql v5.8 in it.
