    Hello,
I would appreciate any help with this. The current situation is I reset my Sony VGN-S560P to the factory specs and burned the recovery CDs. But now I have the belows.
    1) I am unable to do any kind of recovery operation i.e. Vaio Recovery, Restore Complete System, Restore C Drive, Restore Windows Only, etc. The following error comes up always. I have rebooted and restarted several times:

    launcher.exe- unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because arp.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem.

    2) The DVD/CD Drive does not work. Every time I load a disc it tries to read it but never gets to actually spinning it. The drive shows up as a DVD-RW Drive (E :) in My Computer but does not list any information for the CD or DVD in it. The drive is a Ma****a UJ-832D which apparently sucks. I have tried uninstalling the drive in Device Manager and have downloaded and tried all updates from Sony. I have gone into BIOS to have the system reboot from the optical drive but it will not even let me do that i.e. it is not selectable in BIOS.

I am incredibly frustrated and have tried most everything. Does anyone have a solution to either of these problems. I can't load any programs, watch any DVDs or even restore the system i.e. the computer is worthless except for accessing the internet. Help!!
    Scott

Do you have access to an external dvd drive? (USB) Maybe if you were to use one to reinstall with the recovery CDs you could solve the problem. I'd be the first thing I'd try in your situation.
