im considering purchasing a fz190 from www.cdw.com because the canadian sony site doesnt have it and the u.s. sony site doesnt ship to canada. Im just not sure if the warranty will be valid here in canada though...
does anybody know anything about this?

No, Sony's standard warranty is not an international warranty.

the same warranty applies to canda;expect for the fact that you have to ship the unit in for repairs; at your cost. Call Sony Support for more Information

Perhaps they're more lenient in practice, but on paper:
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/VAIO_Warranty_2-586-738-02-USA.pdf
It states that "This Limited Warranty is valid only in the country of purchase, either the United States of America or Canada."
Perhaps this just means that if you purchase the notebook in the US, you have to ship the notebook to Sony US (not Canada). -

i've owned a few american vaio's in canada.
warranty works the same, just call the canadian warranty number
U.S warranty in Canada
