I have noticed something with Sony they never seem to sell of the old spec cheaper. If they slashed the price of the SZ5 that would definetly be really tempting to me.
I doubt whether i would splash out that much for a SZ6 for the middle model. The base model doesn't really appeal to me.

If you want to go with Sony you have to kind of pay rrp but they maybe willing to give you the warranty for free.

I don't like the Wan aerial? that stick out of the side of the SZ model it seems like every SZ6 model i have seen has got them.

Also, there is no mention of integrated x3100 listed for these SZ6 models either.

    edited to add:
You can configure models now with Sony UK which is good.
They also seem to offer more options now https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/SonyStyle/b2c/display/(fwrd=basketorder&layout=15_108_60_49_109_113_2&uiarea=2&ctype=areaDetails&carea=43BAE02B7FEF00AA000000002BC29B85&lay=12_108_3_113_1)/.do you can get a decent B range for an ok price but i do prefer the all black chasis on the SZ models.

It's not that expensive. Sony usually over price their products, but I think the price for the SZ is still within reason

Here they cost 2400 euros. In the UK it's 2480 for this one I see. Well, tt's a lot of money, but I think they're worth it.

What is the maximum memory for the SZ6 does anybody know? I would have thought that it was 4GB but on both of the UK sites it lists the max memory as 2GB surely this cannot be right?

You can put in 4 if you want, but sofar it is not supported by the Bios. It will list as 3GB.

On the other hand you will need Vista x64 to benefit from 4GB, which is another problem in itself.

    Hi :)

The configuration tool does nothing more than allow you to choose a specific model. You cant swap out that awful 4200rpm Hard drive

The UK models also only have a/b/g wireless NO 802.11 N

Also No mention of the Intel graphics card

And when you go through the configuration tool the laptop it puts in the basket says it comes with 2GB DDR2-533 SDRAM instead of 2GB DDR2-667 SDRAM . this is more than likely a typo, though something that would need to be clarified before purchasing.

LOL £1899 is a lot of cash to lay down for a machine with a 4200rpm drive only G Wireless and DDR2-533 SDRAM  :D
