Is the processor in VAIO TX and TXN soldered via BGA (ball grid array) or it is in the socket (removable)? I would be interested in such upgrade!

If you want to know the socket for sure, download and run the latest CPU-Z app. It will list the socket type, and you can see from there. My money's on BGA though...
-
I have opened up my TXN15P before and the cpu is not removable (at least you cannot remove it by bare hands).
-
Sounds like a new Sony TX is just around the corner...
-
Wow... this is great news!
I had crossed the TX off my list, but now I might wait and see.
Anyone know how long Sony (usually) takes to roll out a new model? -
Sony should have new models in May or June - they refresh about every 3 - 4 months. I bought my SZ90 in March and by June they were already 1 or 2 generations on. Such is life.
I personally hope they make the next TX and G with the Core 2 Duo ULV and the 64GB SSD. That I would buy in a heartbeat. -
The ULV Core Duo (not the Core 2 Duo) was out before the TXN25/27/29 were released. They didn't put it in those models.
Hopefully with Santa Rosa, they can at least put a ULV Core Duo in the next TX. -
I haven't seen any Core Solos in the new Santa Rosa ULVs, so Sony may be forced to do it
-
I wasn't talking about Core Solos though. I said Core DUO.
-
That was my whole point. The Santa Rosa line has no Core Solos in ULV that I've seen. So if Sony's going to support the chipset in the ULV form factor of a G, TX, or U, they may finally have to incorporate a Core Duo ULV.
-
Ah gotcha.
ULV Core 2 Duo launched!
