Hey curious does anyone know if the Sony rebates offered by Sony and Circuit City can be had if the UPC code for the notebook is missing? My friend picked up an S and threw the box away not knowing that the upc code was required for the rebate.

Think if they just mailed the receipt in it would do?

You need the UPC. For Sony's rebate, you need to cut out the UPC section out of the box and mail it in with the rebate form and receipt. For curcuitcity/bestbuy/compusa rebates, you need to send in a photocopy of the UPC section of the box along with the form and receipt.

Yeah, at the minimum you need a copy, so I think you're in bad shape.
