The Mass storage device ( Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller ) works off USB and therefore shows as a usb device. Odds are there was and is nothing wrong with the USB on your notebook.
You simply need to load the driver for it.
For 32bit you can use the Vista 32bit driver on the SZ support page, for 64bit, check the guide in my sig. -
yeah , i got the mass storage controller sorted out, can some one help me locate the usb driver? i seriously dont know where to go right now
and my mind if flipping out....transferring 1GB is taking 25-30mins, really frustrating......
-
Have you tried the Intel ICH7 driver?
Have you told Windows to look online?
A last resort is to go to the details tab and in the drop down, choose hardware ID's. Write down the part that says VEN____&DEV_____&SUBsys______.
Then search Google for those numbers, if you get nothing, drop the subsys. -
yeah, i tried asking it to look online and ive asked it to find the drivers in the folder which i extracted all the files but even after it searches it says that this device has the best driver installed or whatever, i mean like windows accepts the unknown device as already found, which is wierd.

Have you tried *this*?
-
okay so i installed the INF update and restarted but no change whatsoever, Its still showing as Unknown Device and my usb ports are still 1.1
-
You're right, it has a (possibly)working driver, just that something is wrong.
This could mean a bad port, bad driver (unlikely), something is using too much power, or a crossed wire or even a bad device plugged into it. It could also be a bad driver for whatever is plugged into the port.
I am going to guess and say the webcam.
It isn't in your list anywhere, there should be a section in device manager called imaging devices. Try searching for one of the webcam drivers that will work for you, there is a lot of discssion of them in the thread in my signature.
If that doesn't fix it (I think it will), the next thing you need to do is determine which port this is. The touchpad, media reader, bluetooth, webcam, and the two side ports all use USB. Possibly the WWAN card too (I forget since I removed mine), but you shouldn't even be seeing that. There may also be another item using usb as well. Find out what devices are and are not functioning, that may help determine why this port is acting up.
Give the Intel drivers a shot if you haven't already. l give it 50/50 at best but is worth a try.
I really think the problem is with your webcam though. -
so atm should i try to unhook my webcam wire that connected to the usb board?, yeah my webcam isnt working for ages now, tried everything, but it hasnt been working longer than my usbs popping a fault.......one thing i noticed is that when i plug in my usb devices they say that this can run faster on a high speed 2.0 USB port, yada yada...and the pop up shows 8 "high-speed" usb ports available
EDIT: i have 32bit windows 7........EDIT:#2 sorry i didnt notice that it said 64 AND 32bit clean install... just a heads up before i go ahead thru the whole thread
HAS someone been able to get their webcam to work?
i have an extra webcam to try out from the SZ1/XP that i bought off ebay with faulty screen,... -
The fact that you are getting a notice about running faster is troubling and probably signals a much bigger problem. You should not be getting that at all, Windows 7 should have taken care of that by default.
One thing a few others and myself have found is that even if you install Windows 10 times, while 9 of them may be the same, for some reason the 10th one may be different and have something odd about it.
I would probably try reinstalling and see what happens. With a clean install, immediately go after this problem, then finish installing everything else. The reason is I suspect you may be having a board problem. Replacing your camera may help, it may not. As your install is right now, I highly doubt changing it will do any good. I'm almost convinced you have a board fault or a bad install.
I'm not sure if anyone has gotten an Sz1 or 4 camera to work, I'm willing to bet someone has though as most in the thread seem quite content with where their systems are at in terms of operation. -

yeah i understand....the problem is when discovered this fault(it just happened one day automatically about 7 months ago, ive re-installed windows several times, (build 7000, RC,etc....) but ever since this problem occured its been happening to me....okay so i disconnected the camera and that was my unknown device(thanks leslieann). Now the part that confuses me the MOST is that since i knew that the board might be a fault.....when i bought the 2nd SZ off ebay i took out the usb board from there and replaced it with mine, including the ribbon...my worst fear is hoping that its not the connector on the motherboard...
I got a question...why is it showing as
Family USB Universal Host Controller 27C8, 27C9, 27CA, 27CB, 27CC
and the 27CC is the only Family USB2 UHC.....in this section im kind of a noob but isnt it suppose to show only one host controller? instead of several?
i included a print screen showing the message that comes up
-
Host controllers are included in the chipset. Just because it is there, doesn't mean they bothered to hook any ports to it.
Are you still getting the USB 1.1 errors?
If so, delete as much USB stuff as you can and then restart, let it re-find them. Without the problematic item, it may load the correct drivers finally.
I would certainly delete/uninstall the 27cc device. -

Have you tried shutting down, pulling the battery out, then unplugging the CMOS battery for about 10-15 minutes? Sometimes settings in the UEFI need to be reset for some things to work right.
-
I had the same issue lie you. The only solution I was satisfied with was "installing Vista". Sorry, but it's true that Windows 7 is not yet refined.
-
Okay so i will try the CMOS battery, i didnt think of that, but ill try it out....i accidently pressed the Card reader out, wen i pressed it back in, the same message came up for the 'this could workfaster on a 2.0 high speed usb port......so i has to be software right? since the card reader is connected with a seperate ribbon to the motherboard...
@leslieann....so tell me specifically which UHC i should uninstall?, and which should i leave? -
Considering your current error, remove and delete them all.
-
I have a question when I unplug the CMOS battery, should i just turn off laptop, take out regular battery, unscrew whatever parts needed then just take it off and keep it off for 15 mins? so am i suppose to keep the regular battery in, or turn the laptop on w/o the CMOS connected, then connect it back up.....sorry for the noob questions
don wanna get anything wrong

well, that didnt work out too well......i tried uninstalling all the usb hosts and well, when i restarted and windows picked it up it installed all the same drivers again and i was left with the same problem.....next when i took out the CMOS battery and re inserted it 15 mins later...my PC stalled at the Starting windows sign for 30mins before i hit and held the power button to shut down and i restarted and same thing then i went to start up repair and it couldnt fix anything......but finally i got loaded into windows to find out that my mouse/fingerprint scanner isnt working, im just going crazy now ive tried taking out and re inserting the touchpad ribbon, but nothing works......and now im stuck.....arghhhhh i wish i had warranty or atleast money to get this fixed......i guess im just out of luck, life sucks

Are your mouse/fingerprint scanner on the USB bus?
-
well when windows starts up it says thats please plug in your biometric device to usb port, im guessing it is connected to the usb bus...i rememberwhen i uninstalled my usb drivers....and when it reinstalled it automatically re installed the fingerprint driver and bluetooth driver so im guessing both of those ae on the usb bus

Have you tried a clean install of Win7 with a clean start on the drivers? It sounds to me, at this point, like corrupted drivers.
-
I have to agree, a fresh start at this point woudl probably help.
-
Intel® Matrix Storage Manager( http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=17412&lang=eng) solved my problem. Try it.
-
Thank you for the link, unfortuantely when i try to install it the installation stops in the middle while unpacking i guess or setting up the files and says that your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for this........ set up will not exit......i tried to install the 9.9 version on the dowload list of drivers for my chipset group........so how do i bypass that requirement or what am i missing/doing wrong.
oh yes i forgot to mention that my mouse started working again randomly when i turned on my laptop yesterday...though my fingerprint isnt working but who cares at the momentatleast my mousepad is working and that is perfect for me....just need to get these darn USB ports to work.
