Undecided on the Sony Vaio F series 3D

Hey everyone...new to this site. I really need a to just hurry up and get a computer....not a techy at all, but have been spending a lot of time looking at a lot of different computers and a lot of different websites talking about computers, trying to figure out what i want....i've boiled it down to the dell XPS 17 3D or the Sony Vaio F series 3D. The specs are all basicly the same but the vaio has a 540 Nvidia and the Dell has the 555. I was leaning toward the dell because of this fact...but after reading a message board on this site I have heard a lot of negative stuff about the Dell. I haven't haven't heard anything TOO terrible about the Vaio. Can anyone point me in the right direction?! Thanks a lot for your time.

 

What are you going to do with the laptop? If you're a gamer, then I'd go with the XPS any day. The 555M is a much better GPU than the 540M, you might be able to pull off a 3D Game@1080p with medium settings on the 555M. You'd either have to drop 1080p resolution or 3D capability on the 540M.

 

yeah, that's what i was thinking but i just heard some bad things about dell. I'm wondering how the sony brand, stacks up to the dell brand. Mostly as far as performance, quality and customer service. These are kind of expensive computers so i really don't want to get raked over the coals. lol

 

Sony has been known for it's poor customer service in the USA. However, I've heard good reports from Japanese users and the service here in HK *seems* good. Though I'd be more confident with Dell's warranty service any day, it's probably just as good as Lenovo or Apple.
