The main reason I want to undervolt my vaio is because I'm planing on leaving it on all the time. The programs I use don't require that much memory.
It's a vaio bz11xn and has a p8400 intel core 2 duo processor. I've read somewhere that RMClock doesn't fully support this processor, is that true?

Currently my core #0 temp is 24C (75F) and core #1 is 22C(70F). I realize it's not high, will the temps lower if I attempt undervolting ? Also, anyone tried undervolting on this particular model of processor?

I may be going off topic (apologize in advance) but should I also look about underclocking it considering my needs?

    Thanks.

24c is extremely low. Most HP's idle at 45-50c and under load get up into the 80's. If you're leaving it on all of the time, I assume it's plugged in, so undervolting wouldn't be accomplishing anything really. The TjMax or maximum temps on the Core 2's are 104c, and only right before that do they start to throttle. The P-series from Intel is a 45nm node, 25w TDP processor, so it isn't going to dissipate much heat to begin with. People usually undervolt to achieve better battery life, or in some instances to lower temps, but it's not remotely worth the trouble to you IMO.

I doubt that you see those temperatures after you have your laptop turned on and idling for a while. If you do, you must be living in a very cold place. FYI: You are not able to lower the cpu's temperature under the ambient temp without a heat pump, peltier element or sth. like this.

Those temps are after about 12 h of work on the notebook. The main problem for me is the fan being constantly on. I though if I could lower the temps at least a few degrees maybe the fan would shut down once in a while.

Look in the Vaio Management app and it will sometimes give you an option on when to prioritize cooling over noise, or vice versa.

As far as I know, you're not able to undervolt mobile i5/i7, please correct me if I'm wrong as I want to do it myself.
