    I just got the SZ 780 model.

    I already have a couple universal AC adapters, and a DC car adapter as well, with various tips. I have both an IGO (AC and car), and a very thin Kensington (AC). Both are listed as 70 watts, I think. I believe there are others available with higher wattages, like 90 and 120.

    Looking at the specs written on the AC adapter that comes with the notebook, it says 19.5 Volts, and 4.7 Amps. Nothing in the specs written on the adapter, however, about watts.

    Does anyone know--would the 70 watt adapters work with my SZ 780, or would I need one of the higher wattage units, if I wanted to use a universal adaptor?

    Of course I could just try my 70 watt adapters, if I find a tip that fits, to see if it works. However, if it works in powering the unit, but might do some damage, I wouldn't want to use it. So, I'd like to get some info first.

    Anyone know?

    Watts = Volt * Amperes
    -> 19,5V * 4,7A = 91,65Watt

    School physics? ;)

    Notice then also that 45V at 2A gives 90Watt too.

    Watt = Joule per second = J/s -> power output per second

    Sorry, I either forgot, or did not learn well, ny school physics! :(

    In other words, would the 70 watt adapter not work for this computer? (Too bad, because I have a few of them! )

    Would it harm the computer to try it?

    Or--would it just charge the battery at a slower rate?

    I think there was an article about it somewhere (with regard to aircraft adaptors), I think in The Times.
    If I remmeber correctly, if your power output is too low your laptop will use its battery power to supplenet the AC supply.

    No guarantee though - I wouldn't recommend trying it.

    I have such an ambiguity regarding AC adapters. The problem is that i repeared my AC adaptel for HP, the price for work is the same of a new Universal adapter and I do not know what to do. Can someone tell me what is better to do?
