I wanted to buy Vaio F-series with i7-2670qm processor, but they changed the configuration a couple of days ago, and now they are offering i7-2640m which is faster but with only 2 cores, and I wanted the quad-core so much. Everything else is pretty much the same, there is only a bigger choice of hard drives now, which is cool. Now this is only if you choose to configure your own model, there are pre-configured ones, but they are more expensive, because they have premium display, 8Gb RAM and 2Gb GT540M instead of 1Gb version, and I don't need that, just want the processor. Would Sony put i7-2670qm for me, if I call them, because they offered it till just a couple of days ago ? What to do?

Are you shopping from the Canadian, US or another country's Sony website? As far as US/Can goes the i7-2670QM is still standard/optional in both countries when you configure an F series.

I see now. It can't hurt to try and configure over the phone and ask for the i7-2640M. And if it isn't available you can ask if it will ever be an option again. Otherwise you're kind of stuck buying a pre config, buying from another country or just waiting for the refresh later this year.

You don't want a 2640M in the F. Get your model elsewhere, the 2670QM is way faster than any dual core mobile CPU.
