    Hi

    I'm buying a VPCZ13M9E with i5 460

I'm wondering if I'll be able to upgrade the cpu with a i7 640 in the future by using ebay and a screwdriver, like the blueray upgrade :)

Nope, CPU is soldered (BGA1288). You may use ebay and someone with professional reflow equipment and skills since this soldering job is one of the hardest in industry.

It's actually not that hard to find someone to do it. Back in the day when we used to prototype consumer electronics, we had prototype boards built all the time. As with most prototypes, changes were made quite often. We had old chips removed and new chips installed. There are tons of little old ladies that do this for cheap. We paid about $30/board. Yes, you heard me. Little old ladies. Turns out being good at knitting and croshay also makes you good to work on boards. The place we went to was this big room full of 60-70 year olds soldering away like crazy.

I think the limiter is not the CPU swap out, but the BIOS support.

I think the opposite. BIOS support should be already there since all Z's use the same bios.
